What Is Special Enrollment and When Can I Qualify?

Special Enrollment allows you to get health insurance outside the regular Open Enrollment Period if you lost health coverage, lost job health insurance, moved, turned 26, got married, had a baby, or experienced another qualifying life event. You typically have 60 days from your life event to enroll in Special Enrollment health insurance.

What Qualifies as a Life Event for Special Enrollment?

Qualifying life events include: lost health insurance from a job, lost health coverage due to Medicaid/CHIP loss, moved to a new state, turned 26 and aged off parent's plan, got married or divorced, had or adopted a baby, or lost employer coverage. If you experienced any of these, you qualify for Special Enrollment health insurance and can enroll outside the regular enrollment period.
